Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter and her rugby star husband didn’t return to their suite in the Palace of Holyroodhouse until 2 p.m. on Sunday, according to the UK’s Daily Mail, with Tindall still wearing his morning suit.

According to the paper, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh left the reception early, as did Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, to allow the younger royals to celebrate.

Guests reportedly enjoyed a sit-down dinner that included seafood and Scottish venison, along with wine and champagne.

At 10:30 p.m., the Daily Mail reports, attendees took to the dance floor. Revelers took shots from a vodka fountain and a few even snuck away for late-night snacks.

“It was just a family knees-up. Your archetypal wedding, really. Except with a lot of royals and rugby players. And a lot of drinking. In fact make that a hell of a lot of drinking,” a royal source told the paper.

There was also karaoke, according to Us magazine. Phillips and Tindall sang an ABBA song, and Prince William finished off the night singing Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

“He sang karaoke! Kate stayed down in front of the stage but clapped and cheered while he sang,” a royal source told the magazine. “It was amazing.”

“Pretty much everyone stayed up all night,” the insider added. “I don’t even think Zara and Mike went to bed. They were too busy having fun with their friends.”

Phillips and Tindall exchanged vows – and platinum wedding bands – earlier Saturday at Edinburgh’s historic Cannongate Kirk.

The accomplished equestrian reportedly bought the dress off the rack at her local boutique for 3,000 pounds (about $4,900). Tindall and his best man, fellow rugby player Iain Balshaw, sported custom-made morning suits made by Savile Row tailor Cad & The Dandy, along with Oliver Sweeney shoes.

Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert Wed

FROM: People.com

By: Dana Kennedy

Charlene Wittstock put fears that she was going to be a runaway bride to rest for good as she wed Prince Albert of Monaco in a religious ceremony on Saturday.

A day after their civil ceremony, the Rhodesian-born Olympian walked down the aisle on the arm of her father in a dazzling off-white silk Duchesse Giorgio Armani Privé dress with a long train and long veil made from off-white silk tulle. The dress was embellished with flowery embroidery, crafted with stones in gold shades, along with Swarovski crystals and mother of pearl teardrops in white and gold hues.

Albert was wearing the cream-colored summer uniform of the palace guards, as well as three medals, including the French Legion of Honor and the Order of the Grimaldi.

As he slipped the ring on his bride’s finger, the prince winked and she giggled, looking relaxed. The two exchanged vows in French, which Wittstock studied intensively for a month at the Institut de Francais.

Because of the couple’s large guest list, the ceremony took place in the courtyard of the prince’s royal palace, rather than the cathedral where his parents Rainer III and Grace Kelly exchanged vows in 1956.

After the couple walked outside of the palace, they got into their Lexus hybrid and were driven to the tiny St. Devote chapel where, according to tradition, the princess leaves her wedding bouquet. It was here that Charlene lost her composure and began weeping briefly – as if she were overcome by the heat and emotion.

“It was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen,” Gildo Pastor, 44, a longtime friend of Albert and a member of one of the most prominent families in Monaco told PEOPLE. “They have a wonderful future ahead of them.”

Becoming a Princess

For the ceremony, Wittstock, 33, wore a dress designed by Giorgio Armani, although her father, Michael Wittstock, tells Paris-Match magazine that Charlene wasn’t always fashion conscious.

“I’ve seen her turn into a princess there,” he said of her time in Monaco. “Before, she was jogging all the time. Now, she’s acquired a taste for fashion and become a beautiful woman.”

Wittstock grew up in Zimbabwe and spent most of her childhood pursuing her Olympic swimming career and playing with animals. “We’d have weekends by the side of the river Gwai. There were wild animals, elephants, giraffes,” says her father, a Johannesburg-based Xerox executive. “Charlene would go riding. She was a real tomboy. Always running everywhere; always covered with dust and dirt.”

Sounds like she’ll be right at home when the couple departs for their honeymoon in South Africa.

MONACO — Monaco’s reigning prince, Albert II, wed Charlene Wittstock of South Africa on Friday in a long-awaited civil ceremony that transformed the one-time Olympic swimmer into the Princess of Monaco.

Wittstock succeeds Hollywood beauty Grace Kelly, who wed Albert’s father, Prince Rainier III in 1956, had three children with him but died in a car accident in 1982.

Residents of the principality on the Riviera swarmed the plaza outside the palace where the ceremony took place, hoping to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds during the first of two days of royal wedding events.

Wittstock wore a silken blue jacket with ankle-length pants, an outfit that famed fashion house Chanel created for the civil ceremony, which precedes Saturday’s elaborate religious wedding and star-studded wedding dinner gala.

When asked if they take each other in marriage, both quietly responded “Oui.” The marriage became official — and Wittstock became a princess — when Philippe Narmino, president of Monaco’s Council of State, pronounced “I declare you united by the bonds of marriage.”

The royal couple signed the marriage register with a specially created pen in gold and precious stones and adorned with their monogram made by German luxury penmaker Montblanc.

Although Albert, 53, was seen for decades as one of Europe’s most eligible bachelors, he had long resisted marriage. Many in Monaco — known the world over for its lax tax laws and glamorous casinos — feared he might never tie the knot.

Monaco’s 7,618 citizens and their partners were invited to post-ceremony cocktails on the square Friday, to be followed by a concert by French composer Jean Michel Jarre and a laser light show.

With her bright blue eyes and delicate features, Wittstock has often been compared to Kelly, an American movie star known for her iconic fashion sense.

Friday’s wedding was the first for both Wittstock and Albert, although the soft-spoken prince has acknowledged fathering two children out of wedlock.

Rumors raged over the past few days that a third illegitimate child had recently surfaced and that development allegedly prompted Wittstock to try to call off the wedding at the last minute and return to South Africa.

The palace dismissed the stories as “ugly rumors” born out of jealousy. Speaking earlier this week on Monaco-Info TV, a top aide to the prince said the couple were “affected” by the rumors but were concentrating on last-minute preparations.

Still, the tensions were evident when Wittstock talked in a TV interview before the wedding about wanting to have her own children.

“I love children and have always wanted to have children of my own,” she said on BFM television, sitting next to Albert with a close-lipped, tense smile. “We’ll see in the next couple of months or years.”

Wittstock also joked that she would bring South African barbecue traditions to Monaco.

The guest list for Saturday’s festivities included the kings of Spain, Sweden, Lesotho and Belgium, the presidents of France, Iceland, Ireland, Lebanon, Malta, Germany and Hungary, France’s richest man, celebrated opera singers, top models and race car divers.

The Catholic ceremony will also take place in the palace, followed by a gala dinner by three-time triple-starred Michelin chef Alain Ducasse. Besides the Champagne and the South African wines, everything served at the sumptuous buffet is being sourced in a 10-kilometer (6-mile) radius from Monaco, Ducasse told The Associated Press in an interview.

More than 1,000 journalists from around the world have been accredited for the festivities, which kicked off late Thursday with a free concert by the legendary Los Angeles band The Eagles.

The prince and Wittstock attended the show, he in a dark suit, she wearing a strapless black pantsuit.

Wittstock was born in Zimbabwe, but moved to neighboring South Africa as a child and swam for that country at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Albert met Wittstock during a 2000 swimming competition in Monaco. Wittstock then began appearing regularly at social events and moved to Monaco in 2006.

Albert has been an International Olympic Committee member since 1985 and competed in five Winter Olympics as part of Monaco’s bobsled team.

Cream Puffs with Dark-Chocolate Sauce

triple-tested at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute

To save 365 calories and 29 grams of fat per serving, we cut the butter in the puffs by 2 tablespoons, made 10 puffs instead of our usual 8, and used light ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
Ingredients

  • 1 cup(s) water
  • 6 tablespoon(s) butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 ounce(s) bittersweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup(s) half-and-half or light cream
  • 1 tablespoon(s) sugar
  • 1 quart(s) light vanilla ice cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease and flour large cookie sheet or spray it with a nonstick spray that contains flour.
  2. In 3-quart saucepan, heat water, butter, and salt to boiling on medium until butter melts. Remove saucepan from heat. Vigorously stir in flour all at once until mixture forms ball and comes away from side of pan.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, until batter becomes smooth and satiny.
  4. Drop batter by scant 1/4 cups into 10 large mounds, 2 inches apart, onto prepared cookie sheet. With fingertip moistened with water, gently smooth tops to round.
  5. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until puffs are a deep golden-brown. Remove cookie sheet from oven; with knife, poke hole in one side of each puff to release steam. Turn off oven. Return cookie sheet to oven and let puffs stand 10 minutes to dry out slightly. Transfer puffs to wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Using serrated knife, slice each cooled puff horizontally in half. With fingers, remove and discard any moist dough inside.
  7. Meanwhile, coarsely chop chocolate. In 1-quart saucepan, heat half-and-half and sugar just to boiling on medium-high. Remove saucepan from heat; add chocolate and let stand 1 minute. Whisk until smooth.
  8. To serve, place 1 scoop ice cream in each cream puff base; replace cream puff top, then drizzle with warm chocolate sauce.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Marry

FROM: cbsnews.com

(AP)  Newlyweds Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are thanking their fans for their warm wishes on their marriage.

The actress and the country star were married Sunday June 25, 2006  in a fairytale wedding at a Roman Catholic church in the bride’s hometown of Sydney, Australia, surrounded by family and friends.

The beaming Oscar-winning actress arrived at the cliff-top church in a flowing white Balenciaga gown and veil, clutching a bouquet of white roses. Church bells pealed 90 minutes later, indicating the service was over.

A crowd of cheering people swarmed into the street leading to the church compound as Kidman’s Rolls Royce limousine passed, forced it to slow down. Police moved in to clear a path.

Helicopters buzzed overhead and hundreds of people – including a throng of media cameras – lined the streets near the church in Sydney’s beachside suburb of Manly as guests arrived in luxury sedans and minibuses.

Some people climbed trees and the stone wall outside the compound trying to catch a glimpse of activity inside. Police, black-suited private security guards and a high wire fence kept out unwanted guests. Details were closely guarded, and no general media coverage was allowed.

Kidman, accompanied by father Antony, arrived in a cream limousine after driving from her harborside mansion in another part of the city — followed all the way by media helicopters.

The couple later released a photograph of the marriage showing them smiling and holding hands. Kidman is wearing the white gown and Urban is in a black suit and tie with a white rose in his lapel.

In a brief statement accompanying the photo the couple said, “we just want to thank everyone in Australia and around the world who have sent us their warm wishes.”

The ceremony was performed by the Kidman family priest, who said beforehand that Kidman and Urban are “totally focused on their commitment.” But there are reports that the couple signed a prenuptial agreement that allegedly includes an escape clause for Kidman should Urban revert to excessive drug or alcohol abuse. Urban has admitted to a cocaine addiction in the past.

Bride and groom were both raised in Australia, and the bulk of the 230 or so guests were reportedly Australian family and friends, including some from Hollywood. Hugh Jackman was seen arriving, and Naomi Watts and Russell Crowe were expected.

This wedding was in stark contrast to Kidman’s first wedding. She and actor Tom Cruise were married in private according to the rites of the Church of Scientology to which Cruise belongs. This is Urban’s first marriage.
