Believe!

Illusionist Criss Angel is engaged to girlfriend Sandra Gonzalez after proposing while they were on vacation in Cabo San Lucas this month, and the couple are “ecstatic,” Angel’s rep confirmed to E! News Tuesday.

But while a little sleight of hand may have been involved, that massive ring didn’t appear out of thin air…

Angel offered up a 5-carat princess-cut diamond on a platinum band that he codesigned along with New York jeweler Idayne Kaye.

Per his rep, on the night of Sept. 7 he and Gonzalez were having a romantic sunset dinner on the beach when he popped the question. Angel had flown her family in as a surprise and they showed up right after she accepted, fireworks blasting overhead.

This will be Angel’s second marriage, his first having ended in 2006 after four years and one instance of the husband being buried alive. He also dated Holly Madison for awhile.

No wedding date has been set, but so long as no one does a disappearing act beforehand, we bet the nuptials will be a sight to behold.

Best Wedding Cake Flavors by Season

Wedding Cake Flavor Ideas

The Best Wedding Cake Flavors by Season

Wedding cakes are created to look and taste fabulous, but sometimes flavor is compromised for style. When selecting a wedding cake, the perfect combination of taste and appearance should be paramount. The goal is that you and your guests admire the design of the cake just as much as they love eating it!

Wedding cakes come in a wide variety of flavors these days and couples no longer have to choose between traditional tastes like vanilla, chocolate and marble. Modern wedding cake bakers provide a wealth of flavor choices including imaginative combinations as diverse as coconut key-lime, chocolate hazelnut mocha, lemon poppy seed and orange-mango.

A good parameter to use when making your flavor selection is to coordinate it with the colors and theme of the wedding – or select the cake first and plan design details around it. Other important factors include the season and location of your wedding, so decide on your priorities before beginning the wedding cake selection and sampling process.

The simple rule is heavier chocolate cakes in the colder months/climates and airy, light cakes during the warmer months/climates.

The top wedding cake flavor suggestions for the seasons are as follows:

Fall/Winter

• Kahlua Mocha- dark liqueur cake with coffee, vanilla and chocolate liqueur and topped with fudge icing

• Mexican Chocolate Cake- moist and enhanced with three types of chocolate and a bit of cinnamon with a smooth milk-chocolate frosting

• Red Velvet Cake- traditional Southern chocolate-red cake with cream cheese frosting

• Texas Turtle- devil’s food cake with nuts and caramel filling and fudge frosting

Spring/Summer

• Princess Cake- moist, creamy white cake topped with cream cheese frosting (traditional choice)

• Orange Marmalade and Lemon Cake- tangy lemon cake made using bitter English orange marmalade and lemon zest with a lemon butter sauce poured over the cake after baking and iced with cream cheese frosting

• Fresh Strawberry Cake- chopped strawberries folded in a white cake batter topped with rich cream cheese frosting

Be sure to spend ample time seeking out a bakery that will suit all of your needs since there are plenty of options and competition for your business. You might want to start your search online or through referrals – then begin deciding which providers seem most appropriate for your needs. The more time and patience you spend selecting your cake, the happier you and your guests will be with the outcome.

There are additional cake-related decisions to consider. If you are concerned about price consider using fresh flowers and fruits in lieu of frosted ones. You can also order a beautiful cake that is a bit too small to feed the crowd and serve from less extraordinary sheet cakes that can be left out of sight and sliced and delivered by the venue staff. You also might want to consider a square cake as opposed to round being that square cakes cut more slices and will feed more people.

Of course, these are just suggestions and many wedding cake bakeries allow the happy couple to customize their cake to satisfy their palette and pricing concerns. Be sure to have an idea of how many people will be attending and ask the bakery about price per slice when considering the various flavors and shapes.

Paul McCartney’s Wedding Plans Revealed

(Reuters) – Former Beatle Paul McCartney posted wedding banns this week at Westminster Register Office in Marylebone, central London, the same venue where he married his first wife Linda over 40 years ago.

The banns allow McCartney to marry New York heiress Nancy Shevell any time 16 days after the September 14 posting at the Register office. It will be McCartney’s third marriage.

Shevell, 51, who is divorced, and McCartney, 69, are believed to have begun dating after the Fab Four singer’s bitter split with second wife, former model Heather Mills.

The banns list the couple as James Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell. He gives his profession as “business executive” and his multi-millionaire future wife is listed simply as an “executive.”

McCartney was happily married for 29 years to American photographer Linda Eastman until her death of breast cancer in 1998. He said at the time that he and Linda had spent just 11 nights apart during their marriage.

The couple tied the knot at the same register office on March 12, 1969, and were greeted by hundreds of fans who had waited outside to catch a glimpse of one of the most famous figures in pop.

McCartney’s marriage to Mills was less happy. The couple wedded in 2002 in a lavish ceremony at Castle Leslie in Ireland estimated by celebrity magazines to have cost around $3.2 million.

But four years later they confirmed they had separated, blaming media intrusion into their private lives, and in 2008 the couple divorced.

A judge had to rule on the size of the divorce settlement after the couple failed to reach an agreement themselves.

Mills was eventually awarded 24.3 million pounds, which at the time equated to $48.7 million, ending one of the most acrimonious breakups in showbusiness history.

Mills had sought five times as much and said McCartney was worth 800 million pounds. The judge ruled his fortune at the time was half that amount.

McCartney’s partnership with John Lennon in The Beatles in 1960s Britain produced some of the most famous and enduring pop songs of the past 50 years.

The “Hey Jude” singer has five children. He has a son, two daughters and a stepdaughter from his marriage to Linda and a daughter from his union with Mills.

McCartney’s spokesman declined to comment on his wedding plans when asked this week about press rumors of an impending ceremony.

The bride wore a gown by Carolina Herrera, and her eight bridesmaids wore lovely Ann Taylor dresses in navy. This actually sounds like a fairly simple wedding as far a celebrity weddings go, and there is no doubt that it was quite lovely. Both Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse are beautiful people.

Of course, the bride’s jewels were quite extravagant. She wore 6-carat diamond and platinum chandelier earrings along with a stunning diamond and platinum bracelet by Neil Lane.

She said, “I think he’s an incredible man on so many levels. He’s so kind, so respectful, loving…he’s got so many qualities that I can’t wait to spend my life with.”

How exciting. It sounds like the newlyweds have a great start to their life together. May they have a long and happy marriage.
