'Avatar' Star Zoe Saldana Is Engaged

Zoe Saldana and Keith Britton

By Mawuse Ziegbe – MTVNews.com

Actress Zoe Saldana is taking on a new role: wife. The star, whose celebrity status has been boosted by the runaway success of the record-smashing flick “Avatar” and her role in the reboot of iconic sci-fi franchise “Star Trek,” is engaged to her boyfriend of 10 years, Keith Britton. A rep for the actress confirmed the news to Us Weekly.

Although the actress and her beau have been together for a decade, the starlet has largely kept quiet about her relationship with Britton, the CEO of the website My Fashion Database. She has, however, spoken frankly about her sensual side.

“Love it, love it, love it — can’t live without it! I love sex,” Saldana said in the April 2010 issue of Essence magazine. “I love skin. I don’t believe the body is something to hide.”

While Saldana’s star has risen over the past few years with a slew of hit movies, she has mentioned that she and Britton deliberately try to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

“We travel a lot, which keeps things alive. We’re very private. It’s worked for 10 years — long enough to go to hell and back,” Saldana told Glamour magazine earlier this year. The actress also opened up about where she would like to be in another 10 years. “I want to be the best daughter, sister, friend and wife I can possibly be,” said Saldana. “Because when I die, I am not going to be buried with my Oscar. I want to love life.”

Julie Caldwell, 39, holds her former bridesmaid dresses as her wedding dress is shown in the foreground

By Jamie Stengle – ABC News

After walking down the aisle 29 times as a bridesmaid, it wasn’t until Julie Caldwell was moments away from the church that it sank in that she was finally the bride.

“I didn’t get nervous till the ride to the church. It was like, ‘Whoa, this is me,’” said Caldwell, 39.

A delayed reaction at her December wedding could be forgiven for the woman much more versed in playing the supportive role in the wedding party. Caldwell did “27 Dresses” a couple better, and her story ended up on the WE television reality show “Girl Meets Gown.”

The Dallas pharmacist who lives in nearby Ennis calls being a bridesmaid “my other career.”

Most women end up being a bridesmaid about five times, said Rebecca Dolgin, executive editor of TheKnot.com, who adds that women in the South tend to do a few more stints since wedding parties there are usually bigger.

Caldwell said her vast experience as a bridesmaid led her to be sure to not be too demanding as a bride with her three bridesmaids — no requests for matching shoes and jewelry.

“When somebody is a bridesmaid many times — four or five or six times — it really does affect their decisions when they’re a bride,” Dolgin said.

After being in that many weddings, she also didn’t shy away from creating the exact dress she wanted.

Henrik Batallones – BuddyTV.com

CSI: Miami’s Eva La Rue — you might know her as CSI Natalia Boa Vista — has tied the knot.

Life & Style reports that she exchanged vows with her boyfriend, businessman Joe Cappuccio, in the Mexican town of Zihuatenejo on Saturday.

“We could not have dreamt of a more perfect day,” La Rue told the magazine. “Getting married in this beautiful location on the ocean with all of our family and friends is so special … this is a day Joe and I will never forget.”

The marriage almost didn’t happen: the two were engaged earlier last year, and were supposed to marry in June 2009, but they suddenly called off their engagement. They were separated for eight months until they reunited in November last year.

The 43-year-old actress is still part of CSI: Miami’s upcoming ninth season, which airs on a new Sunday night time slot on CBS in the fall.

From Aceshowbiz :

Saturday, June 26 has become a big day for couple Mena Suvari and concert producer Simone Sestito. The two have promised to spend their lives together by tying the knot in a private church in Vatican City, Italy, People reported.

“The ceremony was truly unique and Mena looked breathtaking. They are very much in love,” a guest shared about Mena and Simone’s nuptials. According to the site, the newly-married couple chose Rome as their wedding destination because most of Simone’s family lives near the city.

Meanwhile, on June 19, Mena herself announced that she was about to wed. She tweeted, “Well, Lovers, here we go!!! LolI’m about to board flight for Roma! I’m so excited, I can’t wait! (Except for the loooooonnnng travel from LA, which I’m not particularly looking forward to! Lol).”

“Everyone at the airline has been so friendly & I’m thrilled to be reunited with @issimomusic and experience ALL the magic that is Italy!,” the tweet read. “I hope you all are well & enjoying your wonderful weekend!”

Mena and Simone began dating after they met at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival where Mena promoted her movie “Stuck”. They later got engaged in July a year after, telling Us Magazine, “He got down his knees. It was very romantic.”

“I love him. He’s Italian and my family is part Greek, and it’s all about family and culture. I love his family and it just inspires me to live that kind of life,” Mena continued. Meanwhile, Simone shared about what he loves about the “Factory Girl” actress, saying “The thing I love most about her is the understanding. We get each other alot, so there’s a good connection there.”

This was the second wedding for Mena Suvari. She previously wed cinematographer Robert Brinkmann in 2000. However, after five years of marriage, Mena filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized in May 2005.

Questions to ask a potential Wedding DJ

From MuscleManMusic.com

Is setup time included in your price?

Some DJ’s charge for setup or teardown.  A good DJ will be on site at least an hour before your event or sooner depending on the situation.

Can we choose the music to be played at our event?

The answer should be “Yes”.  This can be a list of songs that you would like to hear for cocktail hour, dinner and dancing.  Your DJ should be happy to take guest requests and fill in the rest with DJ selections.  You may want to put together a “Do Not Play” list.

How loud do you play the music?

For cocktail hour and dinner the volume should be set at a comfortable level. Guests enjoy conversing during these times and shouldn’t have to shout over the music to do so.  As for dancing, the volume typically is turned up but the speakers should be directed more toward the dance floor.

Do you carry back up equipment?

Many DJ’s carry an assortment of backup parts and gear to keep the event running smoothly.

Are you insured?

Some DJ’s are insured and now many venues now require vendors to have insurance.

Can we meet prior to booking with you?

The answer should be “Yes”.  Meeting face to face can often ease many concerns that you may have.

Do you offer a contract or written agreement?

Again the answer should be “Yes”. The contract should be straight forward and simple to understand.  The signed contract and deposit officially reserves your date.  Also, you should get a signed copy of the contract for your records.

Is tipping/gratuity expected?

Tipping/gratuity is not required.  If at the end of the night you feel that the DJ has surpassed your expectations and you want to provide a tip, then feel free.

How early should we book?

Simply put…the sooner the better!  Some of the most popular dates can and do book as early as a year in advance.

M.I.A.

by Devon Thomas – CBSNews.com

NEW YORK (CBS) Lots of future brides dream of getting married in white gowns, but white suits?

“I’ve always wanted to get married in a white suit” proclaims “Paper Planes” singer M.I.A., who shares this and other wishes in the July 2010 issue of GQ magazine.

The star is promoting her weirdly titled new album “/\/\/\Y/\” based on her given name Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam.

She’s a 34-year-old rock mama who relocated to the City of Angels by-way-of Brooklyn’s Bed Stuy neighborhood to raise her toddler son.

The singer’s colorful stories are about as varied as those of any post-adolescent army brat. The memory of a childhood in a war-torn Sri Lanka still resonates for the singer, who does her best to compartmentalize the many experiences she has, from “refugee” turned London art-school anti-geek to genre-pushing alternative pop star. It’s summed up in her lyrics: “I got brown skin but I’m a West Londoner / Educated but I’m still a refugee.”

Staying street-smart in constantly changing surroundings did take its toll for the star, especially without her dad around. “England gave me a free education,” she says, “but my grades suffered because I didn’t have my dad to help me. I’ve paid the price. I’ve had the cause and effect, all that. I feel like I don’t have anything to do with my dad.”

Still, M.I.A. paints herself as a medium stuck between “the Third World and the First World” juggling that duality in her life and art. She’s ready to venture to somewhere that even this far-out maven of the cool and obscure hasn’t yet vistited: “I’m ready to go to Ohio,” she says to GQ, sort of kidding. “I would love to move next door to Dave Chappelle. That’s my dream. If I stick around America, that’s what I’m doing.”
